3D film production, in 8K resolution at 60fps.
One global music star.
8hrs of 8K rushes.
A world first delivery in interactive 3D VR.
Film production took place over 2 days in London in February 2020 and with an innovative approach to interview capture, we were honoured to work with the a true legend of the music industry. Responsible for writing and producing hits that have sold over $2b. He helped shape the careers of Diana Ross, Madonna, David Bowie, Duran Duran. He moulded funk and disco to create Chic, and was a pivotal force in the 70s and 80s, before helping Daft Punk write the single of the century with “Get Lucky”. He is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame and is now Chief Creative advisor to Abbey Road studios. We were honoured to spend 2 full days filming with the legend that is Nile Rodgers!
The production marked the culmination of a year of VR filming research and a project launched with Forever Holdings, Bright White ltd and Manchester Metropolitan University. The studio and soundstage was enormous, requiring high intensity film lighting with precise flagging and light control. Each minute of the shoot was maximised to deliver as much useable footage as possible.
Once COVID restrictions hit the UK, all post production took place remotely taking advantage of advanced remote workflows and post production that pushed boundaries to deliver files in a resolution and quality that is usually reserved for feature films. 8K film, 8K grading, 8K editing and 8K deliverables in both High Dynamic Range and Standard Dynamic Range.
Launched on the 24th of March as an online experience, we are hugely proud of this project. It can be viewed on the link below, or via Abbey Road’s website, or the National Portrait Gallery’s website.

Benenden Health TV advert 2023, post production Pollen Studio, creative McCann Leeds, Bullion
Film production for OVH Cloud and Fox Agency for an OOH and online campaign. Filmed before Christmas, delivered mid Jan. Shot on arri mini and Cooke Speed Pancho. Lovely.
VR post production and consultancy for Future Publishing and Canon to deliver a stylish film to test the quality and workflow of Canon’s new VR180 fisheye lens.
We delivered a series of TV adverts, branded online content, social adverts and TVOD adverts for the UK gardening equipment company Yardforce, under creative direction and exec production of McCann.
The adverts intend to give Yardforce the building blocks for a brand - tying into the idea that gardening is a calming, tranquil and rewarding hobby that is good for mental and physical health.
The storyboard gave the project a light hearted, relaxing look at gardening - so relaxing and calming, it can make gardening so easy you simply float away….
Over 2 days production around York and Leeds we filmed the entire campaign on Red Helium and Epic Dragon, with Cooke S4 lenses. Some shots utilised a motion controlled slider to help with the levitation feel.
We handled all of the location scouting and then provided crew for art direction (under McCann’s concept) - purchasing all of the props to build a rooftop garden at the Malmaison in York. For the shoot days, we had a crew of 11 to support the shoot and handled 3 unit moves over 2 days which was incredibly challenging given the budget restraints of a first time broadcast client, and the unhelpful English weather in early May….
We completed all post production and grading in 4K, then handled the distribution to broadcast and the post for the online versions. The advert went live in late May on ITV and Channel 4, and also to VOD - 4OD and ITVHub.

Voice interactive non linear filming, in 8K with a famous old cine lens that Kubrick loved. Yep that’s right.
Live re-enactments. 8 actors, 4 locations. 6 crew.
International sports stars. 3 locations, Covid safe production.
Remote editing and workflow with client.
Partnered with Cooked films, we helped to script, storyboard, location scout, produce and direct dramatic sequences, produce interviews in covid safe remote filming protocols, post produce and deliver a national advertising and training campaign for UK Coaching and Sport England. Delivered to a very happy client with international impact and top Premier League football and Rugby teams adopting the toolset for internal education. The online campaign has been viewed over 50,000 times with rave reviews for the content.
JAAQ - Just Ask A Question
10 Holocaust survivors. 10 poignant stories. 1 incredible interactive experience.
A project we are especially proud of. Completed in 2017, we worked for Bright White Ltd to deliver film production services to an incredible interactive experience. Filmed entirely in 4K 3D with dual Red cameras, we managed the stereoscopic filming, DIT and footage backup, post production and delivery of over 24,000 files from over 90TB of rushes.
Front line emergency services. Limited time for production. Anamorphic lenses.
Anamorphic lenses produce beautiful, cinematic images. Light diffuses differently. Shafts of light take on character. The lenses are heavy and difficult to focus, and moreso on moving shots and with a steadicam.
We won a national procurement exercise to deliver a visceral, beautiful, tense look at a day in the life of a fire officer for GMFRS. The shoot would be flexible around front line services and their attendance, and require hazardous situations to be filmed and entered by crew. Each shot required planning and careful thought. We wanted to use anamorphic lenses to give more depth to scenes, and to assist with a cinemascope delivery format for a custom projection theatre at the GMFRS training site in Bury.
We shot a total of 7 days, over a period of 4 months whilst we were on call for suitable locations and available crew. Post production took place in 4K 25p and we custom graded the film for its projection environment and sound mixed for 5.1.
The client was overwhelmed, and very, very happy. The full length edit is displayed on site at over 4K resolution with 3 projectors in sync. A shorter “flashback’ edit is shown here.
1 International campaign. 2 refinery locations. 3 very tightly planned shoot days.
Produced in 2019 and 2020 for Total UK to coincide with Women in Manufacturing & Engineering day. We assisted with concept development, production and post production to deliver a visually stunning, high paced film that would show all of the women that work for Total UK at their refinery in Lindsey, North Lincolnshire.
Shot with Lomé anamorphic and Cooke spherical lenses, with battery powered location lights to comply with safety restriction when filming on refinery. 8K filming, 4K drone filming, 4K post production and delivery with duplicate film grading in High Dynamic Range and Standard Dynamic Range.
A national advertising campaign. Two comedic shorts. TV launch via sky sports.
Employed by Epiphany to shoot, DIT and assist with post production for their national advertising campaign for mobiles.co.uk
8K film production with Cooke S4 lenses provided the client team with outstanding images, beautiful soft skin tones and creamy colours. The video campaign was filmed on location in Leeds, and with a tough schedule we delighted the client with the standard of the film that was delivered.
The campaign was revisited at Christmas with a further film called “Oh My Deal”, which we filmed on location in Leeds with Red Helium cameras and Cooke S4 lenses.
10 days of filming. 44TB of rushes. 6K 50p workflow.
As a continuation of the Forever Project, we were asked by Forever Holdings to assist with a new project with some added complexities. Firstly, the subjects would be survivors of the Holocaust and the entire shoot would be in German, and second, the shoot would be in 6k resolution and at 50 frames per second to assist with delivery to game engines and mixed reality playback.
The production was intense - a difficult subject matter but also for the first time, technical issues from syncing the DSMC1 Red cameras at a higher frame rate meant our crew had to work efficiently and quickly to ensure all footage was properly delivered and technically acceptable.
Post production took place at 4K 25p and 4K 50p to deliver 2 sets of data to the client for their XR deliverables. Once completed, we had a very happy client and an incredible project to look back on.
A national star, 32 tour dates, 5 video wall screens.
In 2018 and 2019 we were employed by Open White Design to provide film production and animated video design for Jane McDonald’s tour, culminating in her Christmas shows in Birmingham and Leeds Arena to over 5000 people. The films would be displayed on video walls behind the stage and synchronised to live music, and the incredible live light show that Open White created. As an added complication, the video walls were non standard resolution, and needed to act like individual canvasses, and also one giant one for different parts of her show.
Before the Christmas shows, we also provided film production services to the tour, by recording some special messages from Jane to her fans, as well as an ambitious green screen sequence to start the show which involved a silhouette of Jane walking up the steps behind the stage to take her place at the start of the show. We filmed this on location at Leeds Grand Theatre in their giant stairwell with a moving green screen and our Red Helium cameras.
A refinery shutdown and maintenance period for Total. A documentary of the process. 12 days filming reactive to weather with very tight restrictions.
Commissioned in 2019 for film production services to show the turnaround and inspection period at the Lindsay Oil Refinery, we were asked to film colossal pieces of machinery that were shipped from around the world to Immingham dock, and then transported via closed roads to Linsday. Once in place, we then returned 4 months later to see installation and testing, which was totally weather dependent and reliant on very low winds due to work at height.
We attended 12 days of production, with 8K filming, 6K filming, 4K drone filming and time-lapse photography making up the final edit.
The final edit was visually stunning.
Anamorphic lenses. Location shoot. Tight turnaround.
We were commissioned by Epiphany to assist with the delivery of an advertising campaign, that required film production for their client - eBuyer. The shoot was scheduled and delivered quickly, with Lomo square front anamorphic giving the footage a unique and stylish look.
An added challenge for the shoot, was the large windows inside the chosen set and the need for large amounts of diffusion and soft light sources to balance the image.
The films were styled as comedic shorts, with different people attending a therapy session to complain about a relationship, which was actually one with their laptop.
We assisted with production, DIT and post production support.
Gesture and movement based interactive. CGI and video mixed media.
We were asked for help by the now defunct Paragon Creative to deliver an interactive Biathlon experience to the new Olympic Museum in Lausanne. Users move quickly whilst an avatar skis through a course to raise their heart rate before they fire with a laser sighted fake rifle to a screen and attempt to control their breathing and pulse to achieve a better score. The interactive was so well received in Lausanne, it was also duplicated and installed at the Winter Olympic museum in Oslo.
Two films, same locations, same actors, same story. Different outcomes.
In 2017 we won a national tendering exercise to deliver a film and software experience for Cheshire Fire Service at their new training centre in Lymm. We pitched an idea to them of having the same characters doing the same things each day, but their choices affecting the outcome of the film. Almost non-linear, but without the budget or time to shoot 12 more pages for each choice. The films would show the positive outcomes of living safely, being kind and considerate, being kind online, spotting fraud and halting bullying. The negative outcome would show cause and effect - the same characters but angry, sad, frustrated and generally unhappy.
The film production required us to shoot in multiple locations in Cheshire, with temporary sets being used as well as casting actors local to the area to keep travel costs to a minimum.
We provided all concept and creative, scripts and storyboards, crew and production services, and remote post production with a client that were delighted with what they received.
Filming in Lockdown
Covid safe location shoot.
4K film production with remote post production.
Remote film production for Methodist Homes Association. Commissioned in 2020 by Tricolour to create a series of short films to tell the story of the Wilderness - a lost garden space behind Hall Grange in Croydon that had been the passion for Rev. William Wilks, former Secretary and Fellow of the RHA. Filmed during lockdown with skeleton crew and remote direction and live streaming. Post production completed with remote workflows and streaming to assist client teams and creative direction.
Bespoke Touchscreen with CMS
We delivered a really great touchscreen project for the Weald and Downland Museum. The design was created by Jonathon Potter Associates, and we facilitated the programming, liaison with the client team, remote testing, deployment and maintenance.
Custom CMS
The client requested the ability to update content themselves, adding more depth the the available information to give them more time for staff to gather background for the huge amount of resources that they wished to use with the touchscreen. We created the software to run in Linux, and a custom CMS system enables the client to deploy updates even though the site has limited access to wifi.
